Introducing new vaginal
tightening by VOTIVA

what causes vaginal wall laxity or looseness.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?

There could be many reasons why the walls of the vagina could become weak but the most common causes are childbirth and general lack of hormone support to the vaginal tissues after menopause.

This could include stress incontinence of urine, lack of sexual satisfaction, excessive wind in the vagina.

Treatments of stress incontinence(NHS choices)

These may include:

Lifestyle changes

Such as losing weight and cutting down on caffeine and alcohol.

If you have urinary incontinence, cut down on alcohol and drinks containing caffeine, such as tea, coffee and cola. These can cause your kidneys to produce more urine and irritate your bladder.
The recommended weekly limits for alcohol consumption are 14 units for men and women.
A unit of alcohol is roughly half a pint of normal-strength lager or a single measure (25ml) of spirits.

Pelvic Floor exercise

Exercising your pelvic floor muscles by squeezing them, taught by a specialist.

Bladder training

Where you learn ways to wait longer between needing to urinate and passing urine,

Where does RF treatment fit in?

Stress incontinence-RF vaginal tightening has a place in improving the quality of life for patients who have urinary symptoms but are not keen to have any surgical interventions. It is a good option for people who may or may not have tried the lifestyle methods and not have had any results. It could work alongside lifestyle measures to improve the outcome.
Patients who had side effects from medical management and are still not quite ready for the surgical options or cannot have surgical correction are also good candidates for this procedure.
Radiofrequency treatment does not cause any long term damage as the treatment is administered superficially to the vaginal walls. It also does not preclude any planned surgical interventions in the future and can be used safely in the interim.
Lack of sexual satisfaction- Votiva helps to improve the blood flow and the elastin tissue to the vagina thus help regain its strength.

Chronic pain- RF treatment can help symptoms of chronic pelvic pain when all the other causes have been excluded.

Who performs the procedure?

The consultation ,gynaecological assessments and treatment are performed by Dr. Santhosh who is the Lead in Women’s health and contraception at her GP practice.
You will be given an honest opinion about whether this form of treatment would be appropriate for your symptoms.

How many sessions do I need?

A course of three treatments is recommended for maximum benefits .Each treatment session lasts 30 minutes done 4 weeks apart.
It is painless procedure with no downtime

How quickly does it work ?

It works almost immediately and can be reinforced by top up treatments in 1 or 2 years.

Is there an age limit?

There is no age restrictions to this procedure
